We built Parts Warden, a Node.js + MongoDB inventory system tailored to M45 Automotive’s real workflow, giving the team real-time visibility, cleaner purchasing, and auditable inventory control.
M45 Automotive is an independent Subaru specialist based in Auburn, California. While the shop primarily serves local customers, enthusiasts also travel from outside the area for specialized work — which makes accurate parts inventory critical to daily operations.
Managing thousands of parts, multiple suppliers, and constant purchasing activity was becoming overwhelming. With manual tracking and disconnected systems, the team couldn’t reliably monitor what was on hand, what was unused, or what should be returned.
Off-the-shelf inventory platforms were tested, but they were either too complicated for the shop’s workflow or made simple tasks — like performing an inventory count — harder instead of easier.
We designed and built Parts Warden, a custom parts inventory management application built with Node.js and MongoDB. The goal was simple: give the team real-time inventory clarity without forcing them into a complicated system that didn’t match how the shop actually operates.
With Parts Warden in place, M45 Automotive gained accurate, auditable inventory tracking. The parts team can quickly see what’s on hand, what needs to be reordered, and where cash is tied up — without the friction of overly complex software.
For a high-output specialist shop, inventory isn’t just a shelf of parts — it’s a major financial lever. Parts Warden made inventory measurable, auditable, and controllable, turning a long-term blind spot into a system the team can trust.
“We finally have a system that fits the way we actually work. Inventory is easier to manage, counts make sense, and we’re not losing money to parts we can’t account for.”
